Lasting Impact was founded in January of 2015 as a way to expand the conversation about sexual and domestic violence. Much of the current media coverage of sexual violence is focused on statistics; we focus on the repercussions of sexual violence for institutions, but not on the repercussions for survivors. But ultimately, statistics do not help survivors, stories do, both sharing your story and bearing witness to the stories of others. The goal of Lasting Impact is to shed light on the often-overlooked, long-term impacts of sexual assault, domestic violence, and physical and emotional abuse. The campaign also hopes to share stories of insight, healing, and empowerment and let survivors know that no matter what they may be feeling or experiencing, they are not alone. Since it's inception, Lasting Impact has put on galleries at several college campuses and has received international media attention, attracting viewers and participants from around the globe.
